Speaking ahead of a full unveiling at Leipzig, Sega have this morning lifted the lid on House of the Dead: Overkill for the Wii console.

The new game is the previously rumoured Headstrong title (so no new Jet Set Radio, by the look of things), and the London-based game maker are promising an over-the-top action experience, complete with a "new retro look".

Use of the Wiimote could also enflame Daily Mail readers, the controller allowing players to "fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt."

"We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: Overkill," offered Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. "With Sega we’ve been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you’ll agree it’s like nothing you’ve seen before on Wii."

An early 2009 debut is promised. More soon.
