Shock-horror! The PS3 not only fell behind the Xbox 360 for console sales in the week ending August 10th in Japan, but the PSP also lost the top spot to the DS. It really is all happening...

The Xbox 360's success is apparently down to the release of Namco's Vesperia in the land of the rising sun; the exclusive RPG giving sales a much needed boost as the PS3 lost ground on previous gains.

The DS is top of the chart, just, hitting 60,000 units versus the PSPs 58,000.

Third is the Wii with 38,000 followed by the Xbox 360 just shy of 25,000. That's quite a result for Microsoft given that the console frequently fails to top 5,000 in a typical week.

Fourth is the PS3 with just under 10,000, just ahead of the PS2 which has 8,000.
