The veteran designer talks about his new 360 exclusive
But they could still surely have dropped a few subtle hints...
In the wake of some disappointment from hardcore gamers about the lack of heavyweight titles in Nintendo's E3 briefing, company president Satoru Iwata has said that there was a need to focus on casual gaming this year.
Talking to the BBC Iwata said "At this E3 we had to focus on software for the mass audience and software that will be sold in this year or next, This one of the rare opportunities to reach out to mass audiences around the world."
"In order for us to create a new Super Mario game or Legend of Zelda game that can cater to the strong demands of core gamers around the world it takes two to three years.
"We really want to keep surprising people," he said, then added: "It's not easy at all."
Oh they surprised! Big time. I didn't expect anything so embarrassing as that "jam session" on WiiMusic. Or that they'd promise some games that would satisfy the "core" users and have those games be "Animal Crossing 64-Wii" and "Wii Music"!
I was surprised by how badly Nintendo stunk it up.
