Built in MotionPlus an option in the future?

Nintendo undecided on possible hardware integration

The new MotionPlus add on for the Wii remote could eventually find its way into future iterations of the remote itself according to Nintendo.

Revealed at E3 earlier in the week the MotionPlus add-on is a small cube that slots into the bottom of the Wiimote containing extra motion sensors to allow for even more accurate reading of your hand movements.

Speaking at an E3 developer roundtable Nintendo's Eguchi said, "As to looking at whether or not it will be an attachment or built in - we're always looking at how hardware should evolve and where we should take it,"

Confirming that a decision had yet to be made Eguchi went on to say "it might be good to keep it as an attachment we only use for certain software."

"Unfortunately I don't have a definite direction to give you today, but it's something we'll be looking at."

Interestingly Eguchi also touched upon how the extra realism offered by the system perhaps wasn't always going be used. Using the example of a tennis game that could potentially now track racket head movement allowing the player to pull off spins and slices as they would with the real thing. "But we have to ask ourselves, is that easy to play? Is that something we want to do just because it's realistic?"
