You play as the wind
Challenging gaming conventions appears to be the order of the day when trying to describe Flower, the new title from thatgamecompany the developer behind PSN game flOw.
Playing as the wind, you guide a swarm of petals interacting with flower and the surrounding environment. Yes, it is as weird as it sounds.
Simple gameplay and accessible controls are used in a game designed to strike an emotional chord not usually found in computer games. We're told that the delightful green surrounding gaming environment is pushed to the forefront, I guess as opposed to being the grey, war ravaged backdrop to your killing sprees?
Utilising the PS3's graphics prowess 200,000 blades of grass are rendered and animated, apparently not possibly on any other platform. This sounds particularly inviting after spending the last 3 days in a windowless LA conference centre room looking at my laptop screen.
Also present is the ability to change the game according to your skill or even mood. Cracking.
Hmm - SoulBubbles, anyone?
