Following their hefty announcements during a pre-E3 press briefing this morning, Microsoft confirmed that in the future players will be able to install games on their 360's hard-disk.

The new feature was officialised on Major Nelson's Xbox Live blog, the exec promising that the new capability will improve loading performance and stop noisy disc access.

A new in-game dashboard will also be used, and there will be new display modes too.

Remote PC access will also usher in the ability for players to download demos and movies from their PC, via Xbox.com.

A selection of new features were also announced in Microsoft's expose this morning.

All very good news, hopefully it will be back compatible with old games... Halo 3 sounds like it's churning up inside my Xbox and takes a decade to load, would be great to be able to run it from the hard drive :)
