PS3 sales close on 13 million

Hope for Sony's machine?

Sony have today unveiled their full-year financial results, the number-men revealing that the PlayStation division of the electronics giant made a loss of 1.24 billion USD for the 12 months just concluded.

The firm's financial report also reveals that lifetime sales of the PlayStation 3 console are now closing in on 13 million, Sony having sold 12.81 million units across the world. 71.3 million pieces of software have been delivered, too.

While the PS3 is slowly picking up pace, software sales were up hugely, from 13.4 million in the previous year.

PSP sales were also strong at 13.89 million, versus 9.77 million in the year before.
