Banjo 3 is Nuts & Bolts

New details on Rare's platformer

Yet more word in from those rumour-mongering NeoGaf forums now, with word that Rare's 360 exclusive Banjo-Kazooie 3 will go by the name of Nuts & Bolts.

Taking its cues from Lego, we hear that the game will allow you to build unique vehicles, using bits and pieces scattered throughout the title's levels.

While there are vehicles, Rare are keen to point out this this no racing title, and the platform side of things will be as strong as ever. Indeed, Banjo 3 is described as the first Rare game built purely for the Xbox 360.

The vehicle element does sound like jolly good fun, none the less, the forum post in question describing Game Informer's preview, which depicts a four-wheeled cart with a spring on the bottom for clearing large obstacles. Later on, the same cart gets a helicopter rotor, enabling it to fly, before later still balloons are added to the base, enabling hovercraft-like qualities.

These vehicles will no doubt be rather useful in tackling the game's rich environments, and innumerable combinations of parts are promised. 1600 in total, we're told.

Six variously themed levels are mooted, including one based on 80's favourite Dallas, with 15 side missions and challenges also on the cards.

A release this Christmas is planned.
