Sony expect much of Resistance 2
New FPS can rival Gears 2, we're told
Sony's US Vice President of Marketing, Scott Steinberg, reckons Resistance 2 is more than capable of being the PS3's answer to Gears of War 2 - which Microsoft last week confirmed is due out in November.
The Sony exec said the new FPS can go "toe-to-toe against Gears of War 2" this Christmas season.
"It will be our third-generation PS3 product. Insomniac, having shipped Resistance 1, quietly sold a million units. And then Ratchet & Clank last fall. This is the third on their technology shipping in November," the big cheese told GI.biz at GDC last week.
Steinberg also spoke of Sony's relatively sedate efforts at the GDC: "It just felt stronger coming from so many different high-calibre partners as opposed to self-congratulatory announcements from ourselves that the war is over and the standards battle is complete, and we have a standard and it is us."
More soon.
