An article in US magazine GamePro predicts that "Microsoft will buy Epic Games for $1 billion this summer," although the sourcing of this editorial remains ambiguous.
"I have not seen the actual GamePro article but if they're going to make predictions about us selling Epic we would prefer if they started at $2 billion," Rein joked in Develop magazine. "Because we don't want anyone thinking that we're cheap."
Epic are of course the developer of Gears of War, and also have this generation's leading middleware technology in the shape of the Unreal Engine technology.
