Epic counter-attack against Silicon Knights
Counter-sue begins
Having revealed that they are to sue Epic Games for allegedly failing to offer proper support which resulted in the delay of their game, Silicon Knights today find themselves on the end of a counter-sue from Epic, who accuse the developer of trying to "take Epic's licensed technology, pay nothing for it, and use it any way it pleases."
Silicon Knights originally launched a case against Epic over the firm's alleged failure to provide a final development kit for the Unreal Engine they were using to help craft their game. Epic, however, claim that Silicon Knights had access to the Unreal SDK for some nine months before a licensing agreement.
Epic also allege that Silicon Knights new game engine, used to power Too Human and another title for Sega, is created using unauthorised and derivative work, though SK counter they were forced to create the new tech by Epic's failings.
Epic want 650,000 USD in damages and want code and games that infringe their copyrights destroyed.
A peaceful resolution looks unlikely.
